​​Enjoy the views while travelling on the scenic Bow Valley Parkway to Moraine Lake. Our HopOnBanff host will help you plan your day and provide interesting facts about the area. 

 

SCHEDULE:

7:45am:Depart from the Moose Hotel 10:00am: Arrive at Moraine Lake

​3:05pm: Depart from Moraine Lake

​5:00pm:Arrive in Banff

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

​

This ticket is for transportation to Moraine Lake Only. You will have to purchase a FULL DAY HopOnBanff Pass if you would like to stop at other locations. 

 

Be prepared for all types of mountain weather as you will be at Moraine Lake for 5 hours. (10am to 3pm)
Fyi-10am is the time the sun actually touches the lake and gives it that famous colour!

Be aware that Moraine Lake is VERY ISOLATED with no indoor shelter of any kind and has very limited amenities. There is no cellphone service and there are no alternative transportation options once you are there.

 

The start of the season trail conditions can vary depending on weather and snow pack. Temperatures can be colder as Moraine Lake is at a higher elevation. A good jackets and an umbrella is recommended.

​There is a small café but it has limited for food options. We recommend packing a lunch and snacks.​​​

Moraine Lake

Moraine Lake

Situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks sits the absolutely stunning Moraine Lake. Often inaccessible due to traffic restrictions, feel confident knowing that you won't be turned away. Go for a canoe, peaceful lunch or head out on one of the many hiking trails that begin from here.

Café and Gift Shop

The Snowshoe Café is open daily and offers a variety of deli foods, fresh baked pastries, hot and cold meals, beverages, snacks and ice creams.

Hiking Trails

THE ROCKPILE

The short, interpretive trail up the Rockpile, located adjacent to the Lodge, provides a detailed introduction to the environment and the history of the Ten Peaks.

 

Distance: 0.35 km one way

Time: Thirty minutes return

CONSOLATION LAKES

Hiking to Consolation Lakes requires much less effort than most of the Moraine Lake

trails, but rewards the hiker with views of high alpine meadows, enormous talus slopes, and the Quadra Glacier.

 

Distance: 2.9km one way

Time: Two hours return

 

We recommend hiking in groups of 4.

Trails may close due to presence of wildlife

Seasonal restrictions are imposed and require hikers to be in groups of 4.

LARCH VALLEY &
MINNESTIMMA
LAKES

Hike into a unique larch forest high above Moraine Lake. Views of the Ten Peaks are breathtaking.

Distance: 4.3 km one way

Time: Three to four hours return

​

We recommend hiking in groups of 4.

Trails may close due to presence of wildlife

Seasonal restrictions are imposed and require hikers to be in groups of 4.
